This is v interesting,,,,

Peer I had a go at your model (TG-room) and got a really nice sunlight effect from your technique. I then went back to a sunny hdri I created in vue and got a fair result with that which seemed a lot quicker to render.

It's interesting stuff though.

I seem to be going down the Jake route of upping the radiosity and turning down lights to compensate which kind of gives you the same results...I think

p.s. just wondering. Which machine is fast for rendering with Cheetah3D, Intel Core Duo iMac or PowerPC G5 Dual?

In my own tests the Intel iMac won too. Sometimes quite seriously. Plus the Intel uses less power and generates less fan noise. Which is often even more worth then a few extra seconds. At least in my eyes. I'm still enjoying the slience of my Intel iMac.
