Decorated pig

A little noise, and specular size at 4.
I put a different material on the sides to better control the texture there.
With some work it could be improved I'm sure.

Wow thats really close. I think the little bumps need to be smaller and more dense, but everything else looks really good. I'll try it now that you've shown me the path...
Thanks Zoo!

You'll need a light, the specular effect doesn't work with only hdr.

Actually - those are kind of cool. Is the splatter part of the material? Or did you create another element - particles perhaps?

I think I have it pretty close now, thanks to Zoohead...
And like your example you have to add lights if you want to see it well, but I think it looks good overall.

And by the way KurtF...I missed your question before, sorry for that. I'll go back and try to see what I did to create those flying liquids. As a noobie I really didn't have any idea what I was doing at the time (I still don't) and it just sorta happened. I don't know the steps I used so I am not sure if I can recreate it but I will try.

UPDATE: Here's the technique you asked about Kurt: Airborne Liquids Technique

Nice Larry, I think that looks pretty good.

It's always harder to make some textures look great
out of context, like on a pig. On a pan it's right on.

Hey thanks Zoo!
I actually modeled the pan too, which is not complex by any means, but for a noobie like me it was a surprise to see something come together in the UI just by envisioning it in my mind, and without it taking 6 days to do. :p
Only took about 30 minutes actually. I'm sure it would be much faster for you guys but for me that was fast, and it's almost "magical" the first time that happens, you know? The material worked, the methodology worked...I didn't screw up one thing! (Okay I'm gloating now...it's time to stop)
It's been three weeks of "Cheetah Bootcamp" but it's starting to come together.
Thanks again for the words of encouragement, I appreciate it!

Enjoy the feeling. There's plenty of frustration ahead... and that
great feeling of accomplishment that makes it all worth while. :icon_thumbup:

Every time I think... I can model anything, something comes
along and stumps me... for a while. With lots of experimentation,
and Frank and the forum behind me... maybe I can model anything. ;)

I like that. I like honesty and people shooting straight.
Thanks Zoo!

(btw,...I think that Frank is Batman....don't tell anyone)

Scuffed Plastic (something I put together while working on new tutorials for the material system). The idea was to produce a scuffed plastic material (you know how plastic gets kind of rough and whitened in spots?)

Here's the result.

Hi uncle808us

I was mixed up on this myself:
Seems like it wasn’t always like it is now.
Now when you look at the page selector on the first page it looks like the first image I uploaded
Note that the last page number that shows is 11
then there is a >
then “Last”
If you click on the “>”
it will take you to page 12 with page 12 the last page number showing before the “>” then “Last”
Now when you click on "Last" it does take you to the last page which is now 46.

Seems before if you were on the first page and you clicked on last it would only take you to the next set of pages . . .
thus one had to work their way to the last page
Could it be there was a bug before that we just worked around and now the bug is fixed?

Don’t know if I am explaining myself correctly.

After following your instructions I do not get your second image but still: 12 0f 12. Can not figure this out...I never get a read out containing the number 46.Mine always says 1 0f 12.
