How do I use an alpha channel supermat

How do I use an alpha channel supermat

I made a tree in photoshop and made a alpha channel so it would look like a cut of a tree and it looked great in the material preview but when a render an object with it on it it doesn't use the alpha channel and is just a big square any now how to get this to work.

Thanks

Hi,
you have to check on the "use alpha channel" property of the SuperMat material. Than Cheetah3D will use the alpha channel of the color texture to determine the transparency.

Alpha Channel

I tried that and I put it on a plane and when I rendered it it was just a solid there was no transparency, Is there a setting somewhere I'm missing. The .jpg with the alpha channel is a soild square with a alpha channel in the shape of the tree.

Thank you,
K

Hi,
.jpg's don't have a alpha channel as far as I know. They just contain RGB values.

I always use .tiff if I want to send textures with a aplha channle from Photoshop to Cheetah3D.
