Making a Head

hi, Orbit.

I think, there are many way to make head or character depend on what you want to create, and your modeling style (subdivision, spline...).

actually, when I make some simple character, I start with Box with subdivision and symetry modifier.
this is easy sample for Subdivision Modeling.

Hair sample

also many way to make hair.

this is easy sample, but many polygons. I think, for animation or game program, using hair texture with low polygon object is much better than this.

at step 3, I add Extrude and Normal Scale each twice.
